My Crop in Houston, TX

Okay, so the girls over in Houston invited us girls here in Louisiana to an all day crop in their gourgeous By Design store. We're all going to the Scrap, Etc. even in April and this is a way to get to know each other before that time. I'm pitiful to say I've never done a crop and had no clue what a crop was to begin with when I first had gotten back into scrapbooking/making stuff. I just didn't get it or understand it. One of my friends on the Yahoo board going to the event, Sandy, invited anyone to stay at her house, just so we would get there.

I really wanted to go. But this would have been something my Mom would have never allowed. Yes, I'm 40, but if Mom were still alive, she still wouldn't let me go by myself. Well, even my foot problems couldn't get me out of going. My car was fine, that was all checked out, my insurance would take car of towing, I have a cell phone, I have a map, so I went for it. To me, this was a huge thing to drive to Houston and back by myself. I-10 W was even closed, which did give me a bit of a mild anxiety attack.

I had so much fun. Thank you again to Sandy, for opening her home to let me have a place to shower and sleep. And I did have a lot of fun at the crop. I actually ran out of things to do there for a little, but can always find something. I would definitely do it again. I just hope it's not when I-10 is closed again.

I Got Booted

That's me. No half marathon right now for me. Gotta get that post tib tendon to heal. Hurting pretty good right now. So one month with the boot and PT. Heal, heal, heal, heal

A friend of mine said that this is kind of good thing to happen to me. Not a finger pointing that I should have paid more attention to the twinge of pain. No guilt put on myself whatsoever for any should of's. But an opportunity to learn my body really is telling me something. This really forces me to slow down and take it one step at a time, ha, literally! My body wants to heal completely: mind, body, and spirit. Honor what it is telling me. Something good is going to come of this...complete healing.

Got My Cards from My A Year To Remember Classmates!!

Oh, this was so exciting to get this mail the other day...finally got a picture. These are 5X7 cards we could decorate however we wanted to and to put a quote on it. These were so touching to me, and I don't even know them personally. This is just a very small handful of ladies from the class. Felt like they were each picked out especially for me. I found out one of my cards went to someone in the UK...just so cool to be connected by the same desires of people all over the world.

I really appreciate handmade things. There is so much thought and detail that go into any project before any cutting, painting, gluing, writing, etc. begin. To anyone else, they would think this is no big deal or what do you do with it. But not to me...there's a lot of love that went into these cards. I will make a book or put these in a book to always look back on. Heck, I may even frame them.

Here's the quotes that are on them:
Be daring,
Be different,
Be impractical,
Be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary. - Sir Cecil Beaton
By Erin
She decided to enjoy more and endure less!
Celebrate her choices
By Annie in Minnesota
When U are down,
I am thinking of you with
POSITIVE thoughts!!!!!!!
Smile :), I do care!!!!!
By Babette
We must be willing to get rid of the life we planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us - Joseph Campbell
By Hollee
She created with her hands but always left a piece of her heart (look closely & you will see it.)
By Ginny
Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." Mother Theresa
By Gina from California
She woke up one day and threw away all her excuses!
By Donelle
May you be truly blessed to always glitter with a radiance that shines from deep within you - Barbara Becker Holstein
make it a year to remember everyday...heidi swapp And Emily too in helping to put her card together!
If you judge people, you have no time to love them. -Mother Theresa_
By Elgbieta
If you want to keep your memories, you first have to live them. -Bob Dylan
By Tammy from California
Never wallow in mediocrity. Try hard things, for this is where all the fun is. Try to stay green, for this is where the growing is. Once you have heard the call, never give up. -Robert A. Reardon
By Jaymie from Indiana

So glad to be encouraged by the creativity and love from others.

Recent Layouts

This was great when I made this, but looks like it may not happen.
Love pens and had gotten my order in (by snail mail). Wanted to try a different size LO and just had fun.

Challenge was to use Believe and create a LO. Deep one for me.

Love the pics of Daisy and Archie. I'd do it completely different if I did it again. Not a fav. Kind of a "what was I thinking."

Another "what was I thinking" But I really like that even though lately these are the only type of pictures I can get of Daisy, I still want to remember her.

Definitely would not do this again. I have got to stop doing anything family related, too upsetting. But it's a card from Mom and Dad that I scanned and used in this layout.

Layout of just Dennis. He's so cute!

Love taking pictures and love how gorgeous our Confederate Rose trees are.

Daisy Update

She has really been scratching bad. Blood all around her ears. I wish the Claritin or Chlor-Trimeton and the Prednisolone would do more for her. We've done everything for her. Her kidney situation is the same. She has a huge appetite which is great and is the key to her being with us awhile longer. She's just not exactly the same as she used to be. My sister, Holly, hadn't seen her for awhile until the visit with my brother and couldn't believe how she looked. She's a tough little thing though. Still going to the vet every weekend for her fluids to flush out her kidneys.

It is so stressful though to hear her scratching, and making noises like she's irrated by it, and she bites and licks constantly. It's so nice for her to settle down and relax. We don't get much sleep with all of that and she can't be by us, she has to be on top of us. Some nights we don't get any sleep at all. She can't help it. Wish they could have found out the cause, but now we just need to keep her going. Really brings you down to see her like that. She's not in any pain though, just aggravated by the itchiness and not as much energy because of the onset of kidney failure. So we're still doing the right thing for her right now.

My Training

This is or would be my third week of training to walk the half marathon in Disney World. But looks like the tendonitis is really going to make that difficult. Started really acting up this weekend and I had to limp the rest of the way home yesterday from my 4 mile walk. It really sucks big time!!! Asked a friend of mine whose husband is a podiatrist about my issues before I go to my podiatrist again to see if maybe possibily it is a tear afterall. If so, that means a cast and 6 months to heal. I am really not a happy camper!

Steven and Tammy's Visit

Steven and Tammy came in town on October 19th and left on the 27th. We ate at Macaroni Grill and then hung out at our house. It was getting dark fast, so pictures are great, but at least we got some! They got engaged while they were down here. So looks like a wedding in Connecticut maybe next fall!!!
