Oil Paint and Paws Don't Mix

hmmm...not a good combination.  Dennis was doing the last bit of painting in our bathroom.  He had the shades up...didn't hear or see Archie come in...until...he turned to see him on the freshly painted (with oil-based paint) windowsills!!!!  I thought he had died the way Dennis screamed!  The paint is sticky and he said Archie's face was priceless...he could barely move his paws, ended up sliding through it, jumped to the next wet windowsill before jumping onto the tub, bathroom floor, through the wood floors of the bedroom and living room, then onto the oriental rug, tile floors of the foyer, back onto wood floors in the dining room, before I could grab him and put him in the screened area!  White oiled-based paw prints all through the house!  That was easy to clean with Mineral Spirits, but Archie was another story.  He was shaking all of his paws as he walked.  Poor thing.

I soaped up a wet towel and grabbed him as best I could and rubbed each paw...he's pretty aggressive when he's being held against his will.  Then after getting info on the Internet, we used vegetable oil on each paw, then warm soapy cloth, then wet cloth, then dry cloth.  I was just glad I didn't get a chunk taken out of my arm by him.  He didn't hiss at all after it was all done.  He seems to be doing okay now.

The other morning, I stopped dead in my tracks and was so excited to see this Cardinal nesting...but as I was afraid of...and her more...I did scare her...  As close as I could get before she flew off...she was eyeing me up big time...

Got a quick pic of her nest, but then left her alone.  She's back...and I'm staying away.  She's a good mommy.
Well, it looks like the Swine Flu may cause a delay in us getting our referral.  China made an announcement today concerning agencies "counseling" their clients against traveling, but not stopping them.  Seems like a decision on referrals will be made by next week.  So we will see...  Been a little stressful and upsetting for both of us.  But we've made it 3 years waiting, God knows we have patience...

Going Squirrelly

It's that time again.  The rumors have started that China is matching again, and also that they are including March 14th.  So far two agencies have said it.  One is telling their 3/14/06 LID clients they may be next.  It's a pretty low rumor though...really nothing that they are basing it on so far.  Will keep checking in with the Rumor Queen.  But we are going nuts.  It is so hard to concentrate on anything.  I know there are far worse things to be going through.  But this waiting for something that is going to change your lives completely and not being in control whatsoever is really driving us both crazy.  Dennis freaks out every time I tell him it looks like it could be a possibility this time around.  And says he feels like he's not in control.  I said, guess what?  That's because you're not.  Hopefully we'll hear something a little more concrete and not just a rumor by next week.

We're not the only ones going stir crazy and squirrelly.  Archie was acting really funny and when I went out in the back, there was a squirrel on top of the roof making all kinds of noise, shaking it's tail...driving Archie crazy.  As soon as I tried to get a picture of the squirrel, he ran, but Archie freaked even more...here's pics of him trying to jump on the roof and find him...

It was a hard day...gotta have some pool time...
Having some nice rain and the flowers are looking great...

Took this photo of Daisy earlier today.  Couldn't resist.

[Hello.  My Name is Daisy, and I'm a Mac]

And the king of the jungle in his domain...
Having a hard time even scrapping...just hate this out of control feeling.  Did this layout for the Scrapping the Music blog challenge site.  It was a song by Toby Mac from DC Talk.  I loved DC Talk and had even gone to see them in concert.  A very hip Christian group.  Well, this was a song just by him...had the same style as DC Talk, funky and fun, but all about your relationship with God.  So used the lyrics "I was made to love and be loved by You" for the layout with the symbols showing the same thing...
Layout of the picture with Lisa jumping over Denise when we went down to the French Quarter.  Used some beautiful new Hambly...the butterfly paper.
We were going through some of the things we've gotten for Emma so far and I just had to stop and take a photo of this little outfit.  A friend from my old work had given it to me when I had left.  I just couldn't help but think about how all of this is real and not a dream and how it's going to be when we meet.  She and us will all have an adjustment and we pray for a smooth one...
Crazy layout of Archie rolling around in Emma's crib...
Another layout of just the realization hitting me while we put things away...stopping to soak it in and taking photos and documenting it...
These two rug rats are always messing with each other...so did a layout Why can't we be Friends?
Some silly but precious photos of Archie looking all cute and frisky.  He was in Emma's crib while Dennis was painting.  He was so frisky...wanting to play...even trying to catch his own tail...
Hopefully, I'll have more to say next week.  For now hoping to feel better.  Sinuses are bad again and headaches have kicked in big time.  Probably the stress of the wait not helping.  Only did Yoga once this past week, so hoping for a better week next week...really need to release some stress.

Happiness

We had a great Easter weekend.  Dennis ran his race on Saturday.  It wouldn't have been good if things had gone differently on Friday though.

Dennis was painting and had propped the front door open.  Archie had moved from laying on Dennis' laptop and we couldn't find him.  It was a couple of hours of us panicked, looking all over for him.  Both of them usually just stay in the yard if they get out.  And he, especially, is a scaredy cat, we couldn't believe he had run off.  Dennis went a few times in the van, nothing.  We looked around the bushes and under the shed, nothing.  He loves sneaking out, but he loves being by me, so I couldn't imagine...  And to think we would never find him to know what happened.  Lots of things were going through our mind.  I finally found him...he must have sneaked out from one of the bushes and was by my car.  Both of them get a little wild when they have been outside...and he was a little spooked, but got him and got him inside!  I know it's just a cat, but I don't know how I could have processed losing him like that, of not knowing what happened to him.  Needless to say, I've been so happy to have him back.  And to think he was just chillin under a bush while we were freaked!

On to some pics of Daisy and Archie by the pool...

Daisy was getting settled until Archie came up under her to mess with her ;)
Dad's Amaryllis are amazing!
Found this little frog hanging out...as close as I'll get to him ;)
Just some shots around the pool...

Some scrapbooking...did this for the latest Scrapping the Music blog.  The song was Dream on by Aerosmith...used the lyrics Sing With me and the picture it made me think of when we were in Japan...really good memories...
I really do not do well with sewing patterns...but did finally decide to tackle this project...it came out pretty good...it works...it's a cover for my laptop.  I'd probably make some changes though if I did it again...

Did this layout for the newest challenge over at Scrapping the Music.  The song is by a Disney artist, can't remember her name...called This is Me.  I had Dennis take a picture of me to mark my progress of how good I'm doing.  But really isn't a good picture of me, but still used it anyway...
Layout of Dennis fixing up the house...
And a layout of Dad's Amaryllis...he'd be proud!!
Nothing else going on.  Should start to hear rumors the end of this week or next as to referrals.  It's always a possibility for this month, just never know...

Still Keeping Busy

Don't know for sure, but it seems that China matched March 7th and 8th of 2006...just two days.  The wait is so much more worse now having to watch how slow it goes...so close, but still so far...
So what do we do?  Keep busy...Dennis has worked on all of the sinks in the house...

As of now, he's finished the baseboards of Emma's room here and the dining room...

Archie loves Emma's crib.  We took her sheets out and just put these in for him...crazy cat.  I think he likes the smell of the paint too!  But he was also doing some marking...this has always been his room...yes, it will be interesting...we'll teach Emma as best we can how to respect animals...and try to teach this rug rat to share!

I love his little cross-eyes here trying to catch his own tail.  Still spunky at 14...

And I've been doing lots and lots of scrapping.  Also have the base of Emma's announcements done!  Here's that fun guy from New Orleans...
Some of the art around Jackson Square...
A simple layout with Archie...
The picture of Archie on Daisy's butt about to get her while she was hunting...did this for last weeks Scrapping the Music blog challenge...
Scrapped Daisy eating the chicken...
Made a little fun, colorful, spring thingy to hang in the kitchen...

I love Archie's paw in the way of the picture of me and Holly with the Hello Kitty we got from Amy...
The fam from the shower...
And finished this today for the Scrapping the Music challenge this week...did a mini-album of Daisy's everyday stuff...the girl is so high maintenance...

Went to the doctor today and all is still good...I'm feeling good.  Also walking in my running shoes more and more in the house and today I wore them to the doctors and Office Depot...so slowly trying to get out of the brace.  I still need the inserts in my shoes though...I can tell my arches, especially on the injured foot gets very achy if I don't have the extra support.

We have been really busy with the business...lots of orders...steady...
