And here is my layout to share for the celebration.  Because we are a Chinese-American family, we celebrate the Chinese New Year every year.  And this year, one of our local Chinese restaurants treated the community of Chinese Adoptive Families like royalty.
When I scrap Chinese New Year photos, I usually choose red, of course.  But because of the colors from our clothes, theorange/red worked best as the background.  Hexagons are seen a lot in Asian architect, so I decided to cut my photos as hexagons, and then cut more hexagons from the new Destinations and Sweet Shoppe line.  Then added some hand stitching, buttons and jewels to layer on top.
I love the bold patterns and colors.  They worked so well for the theme of this layout.
Thank you for stopping by and celebrating with us!
Leave me a comment and one lucky winner will be selected to win these goodies.
Deadline for comments is Sunday, March 3rd, Midnight ET.
Good Luck!

Favorite Ride - Noel Mignon

Hello Everyone!  I know I have posted on the blog, but I had them scheduled, because the family and I were in Disney World from the 8th through the 15th.  I am getting back into the groove of things.

Like most of us, I have over 1,000 photos from our trip.  When I came across these photos to edit, I had to pick these to scrap first...and the Dumbo ride was actually the first ride my daughter said she wanted to do at Magic Kingdom...we rode about 4 times total!  Still her number one favorite at Disney World.  We like it too...just our speed!  :) I wanted to use Noel Mignon's Lasting Love kit (sold out now, but you can get the paper only kit here) to make the layout, but I also had some very strong orange coming from Dumbo's hat.  So I pulled some orange and orange/yellow...some things from my stash and some things from the Soda Shoppe kit.  For the design, I wanted to use Julie Bonner's sketch from last week.  The photos I picked though have lots of detail and were getting lost with the sketch as is...I kept with the inspiration of the sketch, but changed it to fit the photos.
The first paper I picked was the red and white My Mind's Eye paper.  Then I remembered about these Maya Road circle and star chipboard sets I had...I thought the paper and the stars went really well with the circus feel of the ride.  I loved the My Mind's Eye paper for the background...the layout was really starting to come together with the circus feel.  I pulled out some washi and buttons to help pull the layout together even more.  I used a couple of the aqua stickers from the Soda Shoppe kit from Dear Lizzy too.
That floral card I cut from the Crate Paper pattern paper was my favorite and really reminded of that area of the park with the Pinnochio, Fantasyland feel.  I love creating a certain "feel" to a layout without too much of a theme.  I pulled out some die cuts from October Afternoon from my stash to bring the layout together even more.  I also used the My Mind's Eye dimensional stickers from Lasting Love, but didn't use them as is.  I took them apart and then used them.  That grey doily under the photo is from the large embellishment!
Circus, Pinnochio, Fantasyland feel was going great...and that finishing touch to that feel for me was to add some hand stitching to the heart and then add another heart on top.
I love these photos!  They just make me so happy.  And I love when that feeling comes across in a layout...definitely one of my favorites!  Have a great week!

I do plan on doing another Project Life style book of our Disney World trip.  You can see my first one from this post here and this one here...which was super detailed...I was trying out the feel of Project life before I did my first Project Life in 2012.  And definitely loved the PL style for trips especially big ones like this to include maps, memorabilia, tons of photos, etc.  It is still my daughter's absolute favorite album to look through.  In the meantime, you'll be seeing lots of layouts from the trip too!

And here's my layout to share that was used in the Carta Bella CHA booth using the new Well Traveled line.  This line is even nicer and richer in person.  As soon as I got it, I had this photo in mind.  It is a real steam engine at Dollywood.  Emma loves trains and had her sights on doing this first when we arrived at the park.  But what she had never experienced is how loud a real steam engine is!

We loved the ride (the whistle really was super loud), she screamed and cried the entire of those "are we having fun yet moments."  Carta Bella has washi tape now!  The strips of trains are not from paper but one design of a 3 set of new washi tape with this line.
I think this line was a huge hit at CHA.  I would not normally scrap with these colors, but I have since made a couple more projects with it.  Very easy to work with.
And speaking of other projects, I had started this mini album in case I needed another project, but never filled it with I'm giving this away!  It is small...about 6x6 approximately.  The ribbon closure is sewn on.
And the pages are all stitched with different journaling cards inside.
Here's what you need to do:
1) Leave me a comment to enter to win a current collection of your choice from Carta Bella.
2)  If you want to win the mini album I made...and I'm giving away a full set of the new washi tape and a 6x6 pad from Well traveled!!  Just leave me a separate comment as to what you would use the mini album and/or 6x6 pad and washi for.

Project Life, Week 4

Week 4 had a lot of photos and journaling, so I did a 2 page spread for this week.
The left typewriter ribbon finally ran out, so ordered more, and had to go back to more handwriting...was so glad when I got my ribbon order in!  The month date stamp is the new Amy Tangerine it...took me a little while to figure out how to line up the dates...will be used a lot.
A few closeups...this is when Emma and I got are containers to organize and not only me, but her side of the room got cleaned up.
Using a lot more of my stash...and specifically brads and embellishments...everything fit in one album last year.  Will be great if it does again this year, but if it doesn't, I'll just get another album.
The right side - more brads and embellishments used...lots of new and old...
A few closeups...
Just ordinary days...then had a birthday party to go to, and included a couple of those photos as well.
Thanks for stopping by!

My World - Noel Mignon Lasting Love

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's day and weekend!

{if you are here for the American Crafts blog hop, click here}

I have a layout to share using the Noel Mignon Lasting Love kit (sold out).

My family is "My World," day in and day out, we are together all the time.  We are a bunch of goofballs, but that's the way we like it.  This photo of us says it all.
My first idea to scrap about my family was to cut a lot of hearts, and stitch them into a heart shape.  It didn't turn out the way I expected.  I let the cut hearts just fall on the paper, hoping to spark something, and it I glued them onto a piece of pattern paper, layering them one on top of another.
Then pop dotted the frame to put on top, trimming the excess hearts.  So it looks like a shaker, but they don't shake.  I added the banner on top with more pop dots.  I picked a few more pieces of paper and embellishments, and I needed to find a photo or photos before I went on.
This is from one of those photo booths at the mall, and was perfect.  I added a border punch to the Basic Grey paper, and started to layer.  Decided to add some swirls and drops of mist, and a little bit of masking with dye ink, so did that before I glued everything down.  For a little more color, I fussy cut the banner from Crate Paper to layer at the top.
That flower is just gorgeous, and even though I had the large embellished frame and hearts, the flower was a nice touch to add some sweetness to the quirky photos of us.

February American Crafts Blog Hop

Welcome to the American Crafts Loved Theme Blog hop!

I have a very girly, special moment layout to share with you.
I used the XOXO line and stamps to create this layout.  I stamped and white embossed all over the background, sprayed some white mist in the center, and then added the layers and the photo.
I had only one chance to snap this picture with my iPhone, and so glad I did...I wish I could freeze moments like this.
I mixed in some Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic (the banner and the flower with the pearl) since it went so well with the XOXO line.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by on this Valentine's Day!  To spread a little more love to you, leave me a comment, and I will pick one winner to receive these AC goodies.  February 20th is the deadline to leave a comment.  Good luck!!

Project Life, Weeks 2 and 3

Hi, Everyone!  For week 2, I did a 2-page spread, but they are not side by side, but back to back.  That doesn't bother me as long as I have the weeks documented.

I decided to put both the paper card and the iTunes card from my sister-in-law Denise, for Christmas, in here.  I think from that,  ended up going with a cooler palette of colors for this spread.
Some closeups...
The "love" is a pre-made card from Echo Park, the "this" I stamped.
Onto the backside of week 2...of course, my husband is a big Alabama included that in here.  Lots of journaling on this spread.  I made notes in Evernote of the teacher conference and added that into this week.  The Lolaloopsy couldn't be more perfect, and there was a story behind that one, so since I didn't take a picture of the toy, I included some of the packaging.
Some closeups...
This was my first time that any of my work was displayed at CHA, so it was a big deal to me, and one I wanted to remember.  I found some pins with my work and found some photos on Flickr, so made a little collage on a 4x6, added the text, and printed.
Week 3 - is a one page spread.  I have decided to pull out the DSLR more and do what I love best, taking everyday type photos, the little details...
Stopping to grab the camera and taking more photos of Archie (my boy will be 18 this year) Mom's typewriter that I have now.
Breakfast and getting lunch ready on school days...
Emma's toys and the details of us still sleeping with Emma...details that will be good to remember later.

Like Paper Issues on Facebook

I have a layout to share using Whisker Graphics Divine Twine and Bitty Bag.  My daughter and I both share a love for all pretty papers and embellies.  But when she used the tissue paper that came in my Paper Issues order as a jacket, she raised the bar of paper love.  So I used that photo of her with her "jacket" and the Paper Issues flair.

"We Have Paper Issues & We Rock"
I used the Bitty Bag to hold a tag, then ran a piece of twine through it to the other end...I did the same thing with just tags on the other side, running the twine to the end.  Lots of Crate Paper Acorn fit perfectly with the retro kind of look I wanted.

Thank you for stopping by!

Valentine's For School Friends and a Carta Bella Layout

Wanted to post these little fortune cookie Valentine's I made for Emma's friends.  It was a very last minute thing.  They are off for Mardi Gras (all next week), which is also the week of Valentine's.  They have a Mardi Gras party scheduled today, so wasn't sure if they were doing anything for Valentines.  Chinese New Year is the 10th too!  So lots of celebrations!

On Wed, the teacher posted they can bring Valentine'sto the Mardi Gras party...sooo, I had very limited time, and had to think fast...remembered seeing paper fortune cookies...looked it up, pinned it, and made these out of the 6x6 American Crafts XOXO paper pad.
Emma loved them so much, that she had to take a couple and then a couple more to give to us ;)
I cut the circles with the silhouette and put a 6x6 papers all over the 12x12 Silhouette cutting mat...making the most of my time.  Will share my pin for the instructions, but you then pinch the middle.
My mind was not cooperating...did another Internet search and found this cute saying "I am fortunate to know you," perfect for fortune cookie Valentine's.  I used the sketch pens to write out the sentiment and then used the rectangle around it to can do this in any Word or Pages program, I wanted to do it all in one sitting by the Silhouette...I really had limited time.
So it was a little patience, because I had to get the sketch pens to do the sentiment first, and then put the rectangles back to cut, but had to remove the sentiment...sounds crazy...but in the long run, it saved me from having to get up and go to my printer, then print, then cut...this way it was all done...worth it!
Aren't they cute!  Love them, and I think I will be making's the link on how to make, and this was another great site with Valentine

And I have a Carta Bella layout I can share with was on the Carta Bella blog yesterday, here.  If you go to the blog, you can see a little more of how the layout came together.  The inspiration, believe it or not, came from my Sunscreen bottle ;)
I used the Devoted collection...just pulled out all the blues/greys, and a touch of pink blush...

Will be back with another post on Sunday for a new theme at Paper will want to win our generous new sponsor's prize!  Have a great weekend.  And if you celebrate it...HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!  The year of the Snake!
