It is time for another new Build-A-Flower release from Altenew! Welcome to the blog hop and hope you love this Snapdragon set as much as I do. You should have arrived here from the very talented Jess Francisco. The stamp set is available by itself or for a 5% discount bundled with inks. If you don't ever want to miss a new Build-A-Flower release, you can subscribe here. You will get a specially discounted price from $35.00 to $29.99!
There's a matching die set you can purchase to go with it. Inside your Snapdragon Build-a-Flower Stamp set, you will find examples with ink colors suggestions, and on the back is this guide to stamping the layers.
I had a blast with this set! I really loved the movement of them and was amazed at how many layers come with this set. Like all of the BAF sets, once you stamp it out, you are set and can stamp away. I was thrown off with this one a bit in the beginning of stamping because that bottom stem is totally separate and if not lined up, your die will not match up. But you'll see in the video, it worked out beautifully. I first created a Traveler's Notebook spread.
As I usually do, I stamp out a lot of flowers and have them ready to use. So even the first batch where they didn't line up exactly in the die, I still used. You'll see in the video more of how I really just made this more imperfect with the watercolor background.
I also used a couple of sheets of pattern paper from the Reflections 6x6 pad, doing some fussy cutting to add to the dimension and a contrast of color to build on my watercolor background and Snapdragon flowers. And then I pulled in some of the embellishments from the Live Your Dream scrapbook collection.
My large photo on the right side is busy with the large trees, but instead of changing it to black and white, I worked with the colors of inks I used and the fussy cut pattern paper to pull from it. I also used some of the pattern papers under the photo on the right, and then layered some of the stamped and die cut snapdragons.
I used two of the three sentiments from the set on the Traveler's Notebook and was inspired to use the third as gift tags. Teacher Appreciation, Mother's Day, and graduations, recitals are all coming up and I can always use some pretty tags.
I die cut several tags using the Silhouette Cameo and then a watercolor background again, but did not layer any of the stamped and die cut flowers. I went with a bolder contrasting color for the stem so it would really pop.
Using just a few of the layers of the flowers and not lining them up gives a really free, watercolor look. And while you are already creating, it is a great way to have some tags on hand when needed.
You can see from the video how the Traveler's Notebook and tags came together using this set below or in HD on my YouTube channel here.
