Altenew Build-A-Flower: Crocus Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

It is time for another new Build-A-Flower release from Altenew!  Welcome to the blog hop and hope you love this Crocus set as much as I do.  You should have arrived here from the very talented Ashlea Cornell.  The stamp set is available by itself or for a 5% discount bundled with inks.  If you don't ever want to miss a new Build-A-Flower release, you can subscribe here.  You will get a specially discounted price from $35.00 to $29.99!

There's a matching die set you can purchase to go with it.  Inside your Crocus Build-a-Flower Stamp set, you will find examples with ink colors suggestions, and on the back is this guide to stamping the layers.

For my first project, I created a Traveler's Notebook spread using two of the three layers of both the flower and the leaves.

I did not use the solid image for the flowers and went with a bolder contrast of color to my flowers rather than a more softer appearance using Puffy Heart and Jet Black.  Such an easy stamp set to match up.  The more you stamp with these BAF sets, the earlier I think it becomes and you see how they line up just like when lining up your dies...you know you have it right.

For my leaves I used Sea Glass and Jet Black, that pale Sea Glas with the black is really striking.  I used some pattern paper from the Live Your Dream 12x12 Paper Set, added black machine stitching  to go with the black detail in the stamping, and layered the flowers and leaves under my photo.

For the left side of my spread, I created a cluster of stamping in the corner with the flowers.  For the camera from the Say Cheese Stamp Set, I stamped it onto a separate piece of cardstock, stamping another flower over the camera going in the same direction so that I could trim it out and have it blend in with the cluster.  Finished it off with Live Your Dream Puffy Alphabet Stickers.  You can see more details about the background coming together in the video below.

Next, I created a card using the same Live Your Dream 12x12 Paper Set, but added Navy Cardstock for my card base and Birch Wood for my panel.  I wanted this flower to have a completely different look, so I embossed in a distressed embossing powder the solid image of one of the flowers.

Then I stamped the third layer and embossed in bronze.  For the leaves, I also used the solid image using Forest Glades and then embossed again in bronze using the third layer of each leaf image.

For the sentiment, I used the same bronze embossing powder to emboss on the Navy Cardstock.  I love the richness of this look, gives it almost an exotic look.

You can see from the video how the Traveler's Notebook and card came together using this set below or in HD on my YouTube channel here.
