Welcome to the Altenew Blog Hop Celebrating Parents! For my husband and I, both sets of parents are no longer with us, so this card drive by Altenew really touches me. I have only visited nursing homes a small number of times, but to imagine and being a part of brightening someone's day, moment, or just an encouraging message, is gratifying. For more information on the card drive, please visit Altenew's Celebrating Parents Card Drive blog post here.
Not only is Altenew doing the card drive, but 20% of the profits earned from select stamp sets (Best Dad, Painted Rose, Extra Special, Lotus, Cross Stitch Flower, and Best Mom) by 6/16/2019 will be donated to the Food Bank of Central New York to support seniors in need.
I had forgotten what a gym of a stamp set the Painted Rose stamp set is. Very easy to layer or use individually. I created two cards in similar in the same colors.
This first card, I created a bold look to the roses by first stamping in Sunkissed, Peach Perfect, and then Firebrick, and made the leaves very soft with using either Morning Frost and Arctic to cover the image, then rolled the edges in Paper Bag before stamping.
For my next card, I went more softer and reversed the inks I used on the roses and leaves. I stamped the roses with the first layer in Arctic, then took the third layer of the rose, and rolled it into clear pigment ink, then heat embossed in gold.

This first card, I created a bold look to the roses by first stamping in Sunkissed, Peach Perfect, and then Firebrick, and made the leaves very soft with using either Morning Frost and Arctic to cover the image, then rolled the edges in Paper Bag before stamping.
I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to cover the size of the sentiment I chose, and used as a mask as I did the stamping, then continuing with the bold look, I backed it with the Woodgrain Bark cardstock. Then used it to create another smaller border for my first card panel. I embossed the sentiment in gold using the Painted Encouragement stamp set.
For my next card, I went more softer and reversed the inks I used on the roses and leaves. I stamped the roses with the first layer in Arctic, then took the third layer of the rose, and rolled it into clear pigment ink, then heat embossed in gold.
Then for the leaves, I used either Peach Perfect or Sunkissed and rolled the edges in Firebrick before stamping. I did stamp one of the images in Sunkissed without rolling to create more depth. Then stamped sentiment in Firebrick and heat embossed You in gold from the Painted Rose stamp set. To add even more dimension (can see better in person, I watercolored some of the Morning Mist ink around the center parts of the roses. I just pressed the ink pad into an acrylic blog, sprayed water and then used a paint brush. I did the same technique with Peach Perfect to add some watercolor splatters.
Hope this shows you a great way to use the same products and create completely different looks. These can be made quickly once you get started. To finish both cards I used Nuvo Golden Ovals.
